This collaborative project by Hamda Alsuwaidi and Aliya Al Hashimi designs a temporary exhibition space for the Venice Biennale within the historic Corderie building. Inspired by M. C. Escher, the concept transforms optical illusions into an immersive spatial experience that plays with perception and movement. The installation is fully reversible and respectfully integrated into the historic context.
Project 01
bookstore is designed as a calm and welcoming retreat, offering a break from the pace of everyday life. The space focuses on simplicity, balance, and comfort, making it ideal for reading, studying, or quiet reflection. Natural materials, soft lighting, and an open layout create a warm, calming atmosphere, while earthy tones and gentle forms enhance the sense of relaxation. More than just a retail space, it serves as a peaceful environment where visitors can connect with books in an inspiring setting.
Project 02
This circus-themed hotel is designed to feel bold and theatrical, drawing inspiration from traditional circus performances. Arches, warm tones, and spotlight-style lighting create a stage-like atmosphere, with the bar acting as the central focal point, much like a performance arena. Subtle vintage patterns enhance the theme while maintaining comfort and balance. The result is a memorable hospitality experience that blends entertainment with a welcoming sense of ease.
